Un grande classico in chiave contemporanea per affrontare uno dei temi più drammatici e urgenti del nostro tempo: la violenza sulle donne.

Un luogo comune: una donna che tradisce (o è semplicemente sospettata di farlo), un uomo che, lasciandosi accecare dalla gelosia, uccide la compagna per poi, nella maggior parte dei casi, suicidarsi. L’idea di ri-presentare Otello è nata da una serrata interrogazione del testo shakespeariano e in particolare della figura del Moro. Egli uccide perché si lascia irretire dal laccio traditore di Iago in preda a una cieca e folle gelosia, o piuttosto è totalmente responsabile della propria vicenda e del proprio delitto? Insomma Otello, non importa se bianco o nero, è un uomo che di fronte alla passione amorosa si fa travolgere in un acting out che non è in grado di controllare, o invece uccide per un deliberato ragionamento d’odio? Quando egli trasforma lo spazio che era occupato dall’amore, lasciandovi posto al sentimento brutale e distruttivo, cosa succede nella sua mente?
